The Early Intervention Program
(Birth - 2.11 years)
Marion
K. Salomon & Associates is a New York State approved provider of Early
Intervention Services under contract with Nassau and Suffolk counties as
well as the NYC Department of Mental Health and Hygiene for Queens and Brooklyn.
There are no out of pocket costs to the family. EI may
access your health insurance to pay for some of the services without
affecting your family's benefits.
Early diagnosis and treatment are important in improving children's
competence and confidence in all areas of development. The sooner
the children's developmental delays are treated, the more likely they'll
be able to enter mainstream educational programs.
The
first step
is to evaluate children's development in the five basic areas.
(Only state approved evaluators under contract with the county can
determine eligibility.)
The
second step
is treatment. If a child is found eligible for Early Intervention
(EI), the family works with the evaluators and the county to identify
the appropriate treatment services. Services must be authorized
and arranged by the county.
Families are responsible for any costs associated with child care or
private community-based settings in which the child may be enrolled.
For additional information, please contact Marion K. Salomon &
Associates. For referrals regarding the Early Intervention
Program, you can contact your local municipality (see below).

Preschool Program
( 2.6 - 5 years)
Marion
K. Salomon & Associates is a NYS approved multi-disciplinary evaluation
site and under contract with Nassau and Suffolk counties. All
evaluations and services are provided at no cost to families and area
based on the individual needs of the preschooler found to have a
disability. This determination is made by the Committee on
Preschool Special Education (CPSE) of the local school district.
Types of services as well as frequency, duration and location are all
recommendations made by the committee. Families are responsible
for any costs associated with private schools for typically-developing
children.
The CPSE program is for children who have or are suspected of having a
disability pursuant to Section 4410 of Article 89 of the Education Law
and funded by NY State Education Department and Nassau & Suffolk
Counties' Department of Health.
For more information, please contact Marion K. Salomon & Associates or
