A
Two-Step Approach
Early diagnosis and treatment
are important in improving children’s competence and confidence in all
areas of development.
The sooner the children’s developmental delays are treated, the
more likely they’ll be able to enter mainstream educational programs.
Our first step is to
evaluate children’s development. Our second step is
treatment, if it’s determined that it’s needed.
Based on the test results, your input as parents, and observation
of your child, we develop a treatment plan to meet each child’s specific
needs. This Individualized
Family Service Plan (IFSP) for babies
and toddlers or Individualized Educational Plan (IEP)
for preschoolers uses the most appropriate forms of therapy from the wide
variety available, such as:
-
speech
and language therapy
-
applied
behavior analysis (ABA)
-
special
education
-
physical
therapy
-
occupational
therapy
-
feeding
therapy
-
nutritional
counseling
-
sensory
integration training
-
play
therapy
-
education
of the visually & hearing impaired
-
parent
counseling
Working
together, parents and professionals set goals for the children, monitor
their progress, and modify the programs to fit their changing needs.
Transition planning helps children move to the next level.
