Make a Mess is an Occupational therapy group geared towards children with fine motor and sensory concerns.  It includes art projects, sensory and prewriting activities and group games.  It is a parent/child group so an adult must also attend. It meets Fridays from 12:15 to 1:15.

Talk to Me is a Speech and Language group providing children with language stimulation activities to increase sound production and oral motor skills.  Both expressive and receptive language skills are targeted through facilitated play, circle time and table top activities.  It is a developmental group for the children only but parents/caregivers are right down the hall in our waiting room.  It meets Mondays from 10:45 to 11:45.

Show Me How is a parent /child group geared toward our younger EI children.  It provides caregivers an opportunity to learn language enhancing strategies, promote independence and encourage play, all in a social environment.  The group activities include play, music and movement as well as art and sensory opportunities.  It meets Wednesdays from 9:30 to 10:30.

Come Play with Me is a play group geared toward our older EI children (24 months and older).  It focuses on play in a group.  Children should have emerging imitation skills and social awareness so that they get the most from the group experience. We encourage age appropriate play skills while addressing each child on his/her developmental level.  Parents can participate in our parent group meeting at the same time to discuss issues related to appropriate play.  It meets Thursdays from 9:30 to 10:30.

Developmental Transition Group is specifically for children on the autism spectrum. Its goal is to prepare children to participate in an early childhood classroom setting.  The children will learn to follow routines and directions related to the classroom as well as develop peer awareness and social interest.  Play and self help skills necessary for the typical classroom will also be addressed.  Our ABA staff teaches the group and data is collected to provide information to the parents and home team.  Parents can participate in our parent group meeting at the same time to discuss issues related to children included in the early childhood classroom setting.  It meets Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11 to 12:30.

“Totnastics” is our motor group located in South Bellmore at the All American Gymnastics on Merrick Road.  The goal is to provide children with motor delays the opportunity to climb, jump, bounce and crawl through all types of obstacles in an inclusionary setting.  It is recommended that children be ambulatory in order to negotiate the equipment.  Typical peers and siblings can register through All American Gymnastics.  A physical therapy prescription is necessary for this group. It meets every Thursday from 12 to 12:50 (follows the center’s schedule). Enrollment for the group is based on the child’s IFSP.

Our parent groups are open to any parent of a child in early intervention.
